Nathanael laid there and watched her sleep. He couldn’t take his eyes off of her - she was so beautiful, so loving, she was his. He watched the gentle rise and fall of her chest as she breathed and than his eyes trailed down to her round stomach and lovingly placed a hand on her.

She sighed and shuffled her face buried in her soft blond hair. She slowly opened her eyes and blinked as smile formed on her face “Do you ever sleep?” she whispered and he just shook his head.

“I didn’t mean to wake you” he whispered back his face inches from her.

“You didn’t” she responded than suddenly the child within her kicked “but you woke her”  she continued and placed a hand on top of his. 

When a human coupled with an angel, especially if they were soul-mates, it was almost a guarantee a child would be conceived. She knew this when they made love for the first time, she didn’t regret it. She was nearly twenty-four weeks along and had twelve-weeks until her due date. According to Nathanael, carrying an angelic child was much more physically demanding than carrying a human child. He was right, she was constantly resting and the baby was always kicking and moving.

“I’m sorry” he whispered softly wrapping his arms around her and she snuggled closer to him. He breathed in her sweet scent - vanilla and lavender - and kissed her on the temple and held her close. He had been searching for hundreds of years for her and now she was in his arms and carrying his child. “Sara, I love you so much” he whispered into her wheat colored locks.

“and I love you” she whispered into his collar bone. She felt their child stir again and sighed “Your daughter’s doing somersaults” she was still amazed by the new life within her. An active baby was a good thing and their daughter was very active.

Sara shifted and looked into Nathanael’s blue-eyes, they glistened with pure love “Did you feel that?” she asked him as their daughter kicked again, he nodded in reply and a smile spread across his face.

Sara let out a deep sigh and snuggled close to him attempting to fall back asleep.
