“Father!” Triton’s voice came from behind him, Poseidon turned and was faced by the intense face of his son “Where have you been?” he continued “The palace has been full of speculation” Triton paused waiting for Poseidon response, none came “They say you’ve been with a woman” The look on his fathers face told him it was right “Is she mortal?” he dared to inquire, once again no reply was needed.

The look on his father’s face told him that there was no words that could describe her “She’s the one I’ve been searching for” Poseidon finally whispered. This left Triton speechless.

It had been nearly a month since he had seen her and every day seemed to become longer than the previous one. While he was in council with the other sea-gods and deities a feeling came over him and he immediately knew what it meant.

It had been nearly two month since Abigail had seen him - him being Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea. The next high-tide was in two days but she had something else occupying her thoughts. For the past month she hadn't been feeling well, especially in the early part of the day. She had a creeping suspicion she knew what it was and than when the test came up positive it affirmed it - she was pregnant.

She wondered how different it would be having a god’s child would be from having a normal human child. She figured her child’s father would have all the answers. Heck, he probably already knew.

A few days later the morning of the high tide she awoke with her head on Poseidon’s chest. She smiled burying her face into the soft smooth skin “I missed you so much” he whispered into the top of her head. She looked up at him, her eyes said it all. He kissed her fully on the lips she closed her eyes savoring him - she had forgotten how wonderful his lips felt. She pulled away and looked him in the eyes.

She took a deep breath before she started to speak “I’m..” she was stopped by his fingers on her lips.

“I know, my love” he whispered “You’re with child...my child” his voice sounded soft and tender. He could see the uncertainty in her eyes “You have nothing to fear”. He took her into a loving embrace.

“How did you know?” she asked and regretted it at once. Of course he would know.

“We’re connected deeper, than most can fathom” came the reply “Our child is connected as much to me as it is to you.” She looked into his sparkling aquamarine eyes.

A few months had passed and Abigail’s stomach was growing rounder as the child within her developed and grew. She was now sixteen weeks along and was starting to show, she loved the way he would trace circles around her belly with his finger.

“Soon” he whispered into her temple catching her off guard.

“Soon?” she asked startled “what?” she continued shifting to look at him.

“Soon...” he replied “We will be together and no one will separate us” he leaned in and kissed her. He could tell she what she was going to ask so he beat her to it “The next high-tide and you’ll be by my side.” The next high-tide was in two weeks - two weeks and they would be inseparably.

It had been two weeks since the revelation from Poseidon - the revelation that would change her life forever. The high-tide was tomorrow and when it came she would go with him to his golden palace at the bottom of the sea.

Since their reunion they had made loved countless times it never ceased to amaze her how loving and tender her was. As she laid there their bare bodies pressed against each other, she breathed in his scent and her eyes drifted around the room. This was perhaps the last time she would see it and it brought tears to her eyes - this was the home she inherited from her parents, the one she grew up in, the one she loved dearly. She sighed and laid her head in the crook of his arm.

“What’s wrong, my love” he tenderly whispered seeing the tears in her eyes “Do you not want to come with me?” he asked the hurt evident in his voice.

“Of course, I do” she responded looking up at him “I want to raise our child, together” she smiled at him and attempted to wipe away her tears.
